Through nature-immersion, the outdoors will serve as a classroom where children can learn, challenge themselves and grow at their own pace. We encourage critical thinking, celebrate creativity, and promote individual learning as well as the group process.
The preschools meet in the Lower Arroyo Park in Pasadena. It includes 19.9 acres of improved parkland, picnic areas, beautiful undeveloped lands, and a flood channel. This diverse park is well-maintained by the City of Pasadena. It is an actual and metaphorical passageway between wildlife and people. Small group size 6 – 8 children total. 1:3 or 1:4 teacher:child ratio. Ages 2 – 5.

At Heart Rock Forest School, children’s safety and well-being is a top priority. The rhythm of the day is tentative and will change based on children’s needs and interests.
